And people wonder why noobs need hacks to win, because they play so silly :). Here is a prime example of why it never pays to play defensive, only build units you plan to attack with. -mrhat187

Showtime! - 03/23/04
Well so I'm sure everyone knows how messed up the stats on generals: zero hour are. I settled at 0-34-0 needless to say this is a far cry from my 300+ wins. Anyways so I hop in a 2-2 where my so called "teammate" begins to bash that I can't play, I'm a noob, blah blah blah. So I managed to get the other 2 guys to go observer and watch me and this fool go at it, I even let him pick my side. To bad for the foolish fellow he picked my strongest faction, needless to say he went down without very much difficulty. Enjoy the show. ~mrhat187
Mrhat187 gets rocked? - 02/23/04

Just some ok action in this one, I had the game clinched so I started to mess around, and dart never gave in. Unexpected outcome on this game :). Click here for the replay. ---mrhat187

Holiday Madness - 11/06/03
Well since it is getting close to Christmas we thought we might start early this year at Case's Ladder. We have recently made several changes to the ladder that will not only improve ladder play, but reward our most competitive players at the same time. 1st we have now switched to a RA2 point system, so you will now see similar rating calculations based on that format. 2nd we have combined auto-report with the ability to manual report, so not only can you play matches in quickmatch you can now also find a Case's Ladder opponent anywhere online and the loser simply comes back and reports. 3rd previously in quickmatch if you defeated an unregistered player you would receive no rating points only a win, this is no more. You will now receive points win you defeat any player over the quickmatch system.
We have also decided that in recognition of all the support we have received from the community, and the patience while enhancing the ladder to do a HOLIDAY LADDER MADNESS special. Between now and Jan. 1st everyone is encouraged to compete and get in as many matches as possible. We will be giving away prizes from 1st to 5th place when the ladder closes on the 1st.
Have fun, and let the games begin.----Mrhat187
Mrhat187--2, Noobs--0 - 11/04/03
*See the Replay of Game #2
So its the end of the day and I was looking to play a game before going home. I stumble into a 2v2 no rush no sw. Usually I don't play games with rules, but I figured what the heck. So me and my teammate are just moving along, building resources. (I play random btw) So it's about 10 minutes into the game I figure I'll send 5 quads at one of their bases, and test the waters to my surprise there is almost nothing there (he was inf. gen.) then I hear WTF NO RUSH!!. So I think what kind of noob thinks an attack after 10 minutes is a rush. So I lose my quads....who cares when you have 4 arms dealers pumping out buggies and quads while still making black markets.
Then his teammate figured he would be cute and put up a particle cannon, so I ask "I thought no supers," and the reply was you decided to rush so now we're going to just cheat and build supers. I just laugh and say so I can build supers? Again the reply is doesn't matter you've already lost....obviously they didn't know I had 30k ready to. So I did what anyone would do, build 6 scud storms. Make a long story short Mrhat187 is accused by the noobs of sucking, don't know how to play, lazy yank, typical rants of noobs. Then out of the blue I was challenged to another game with no rules and they said they wouldn't be easy on me, again I laugh shrugging off the behavior.
So I pick up '3rd antonescu' for a partner and we go again, once again Mrhat187 takes random. Now talk about unlucky but I get super weapon general, almost the worst side to have in this type of battle. Now I will let everyone decide for themselves by watching the replay. There was a little sloppy play on my part, but not only were they both defeated by me in a 2v1, but they were ANNIHILATED. To the extent I was accused of being a cheater for the next 10 minutes in the 2v2 lobby, you always know you crushed someone when they say you cheated. :)
Time for a HAT ATTACK - 10/13/03
Warning: Reading of this fantasterastic, amazerific, superprolific, enigmatical, automagical, post may result in severe system shock......time for a HAT ATTACK. Actually, just a short post today, in last Friday's tournament we watched an always favored Rayden roar his way past Round 2 and Round 3, only to be defeated in the Finals by Quakerxnc. Great job Quaker on claiming your Generals T-Shirt and to Rayden for taking 2nd place and receiving an official Generals poster. Great job guys and look for more tournament fun this week. --Mrhat187
Ramblings of a Crazy Hat - 10/07/03
Hey and welcome once again to the mrhat187 show. Today we have [NR]Rival once again showing his superiority in not only generals, but now zero hour. I would have liked to see someone play a toxin general against his infantry massing machine, but it just didn't happen. Check out Rival's march to victory by watching his round 1, round 2, round 3, and round 4 victories. Now I know what your thinking "Mrhat how can I become the supa uber l337 player, like Rival." Well that's simple you need to apply to Mrhat's "road to victory" online university, and in one easy payment of $5,000 you to can play like a pro. The minute your payment goes through, congratulations you graduate. Any issues should be brought up to my head of security.
*Tip: If your playing against an Inf. general best to bring out some TH/Gat instead of BM and Gat.--Mrhat187
Zero Hour Ladder - 09/22/03
Signup is open for the Official Zero Hour ladder! The link is on the upper left. Use the same procedure in the Quickmatch to select the official ladder and you should be all set.
ap0c3l33t's Matchup! - 08/27/03
This tournament was a great one -- several powerhouses met in the semifinals making for some great matchups. Ownage/Boris made it to the finals on some unfortunate connection problems for grilled-chicken right in the middle of a very tight game. Rayden faced Haitz in a semis matchup with some great China vs. GLA action, which you can see *HERE*. The finals matchup was some great China vs. China gameplay, with Rayden showing superior micro-management, making the game look easy. The match really fell apart when Rayden started taking a lead where it counts the most -- the economy. With his chinese economical engine at full tilt, Rayden appears to roll over Boris in what was actually a very close game. If you want to see how to use a nuke cannon effectively, watch this one. GG to both players and congratulations to Rayden. You can watch the finals *HERE*.

Rush, not some band from the 80's - 08/26/03
Today's tournament was the day of the rush, with some games lasting only a few minutes. Including what I think might be a record from our tournament champion [first]gamer who didn't spend more than 5 minutes in a match. One of the few matches which lasted longer than 5 minutes was a mid tournament battle between ownage boris and njuist. Our second place tournament winner was Rayden who after suffering an early round loss managed to battle back through both the loser's bracket semi-finals and the finals. This put him face to face with a juggernaut....[first]gamer. Again staying true to his nature, gamer put the game quickly away, winning in under 5 minutes in what he claimed was his best game of the day. Do we have a new competitor on the block?
P.S. If you want to see what a loser maphacker looks like here's the replay and congrats sh00ter01 on losing your stats.---mrhat187
Replays, Replays, Replays - 08/15/03
Amazing tournament action today as the top players were battling it out for that top spot. Several of the top players turned out including grilled-chicken, [po]basemax, altTab, and [nr]rival to name a few. Most matches in round 1 went as the way they were expected to with no serious upsets. Round1, Round1, Round1, Round1. Moving on to round two we had one serious upset with Njuist pulling out an incredible victory over [po]basemax. Other 2nd round action included AltTab, Grilled-Chicken, and [nr]rival each turning in convincing victories.
Moving onto the semi's things heated up with a disputed match betwen njuist and AltTab where the win was given by decision to AltTab through his pure money making juggernaut tactic. Grilled was again showing his grit for competition by defeating [nr]Rival who incidently won our previous prize tournament. Sticking true to form grilled-chicken has once again takin another tournament victory...how many is that now :) Is there anyone who can shut down the chicken?!? (Might have to dust of my gloves!) So congratulations Grilled on winning your official generals t-shirt, and stay tuned next week for more prizes, games, and fun.---mrhat187
1st Sponsored Prize Tourney - 08/11/03
Hey everyone, if you didn't sign up for Monday's tournament you missed out. I said I was going to have a surprise and congratulations [NR]Rival on winning one of our 1st official ladder prize tournaments. He won a black official EA Generals T-shirt. You can see the final match between ownage vanity vs [NR]Rival here. Look for more prize tournaments to come, including signed game copies by the generals development team, Black official generals T-Shirts, Generals Poster, and more. You can always check out details right here at http://generals.casesladder.com. So let everyone know that the game is on and the competition has just begun.---mrhat187
Major Change for Unregistered Players - 08/08/03 Your skill rating will not change when you get credits for these games (to prevent exploits) but at least now your other statistics will be updated. We still encourage you to tell the person you are playing to go register during the match so that they too can have their stats tracked. You will see in the match comments when you view matches as well as the news if a match was a "win credit only" game.
We have changed the way the ranking system credits playing unregistered players! Now instead of having the match count for nothing, you will receive wins if you defeat unregistered folks! You will not receive a loss on your ladder record for losing to an unregistered player.
Don't Mess With a Chicken! - 08/06/03
Who would have guessed that 2 chickens would come out on top, on a side note chicken is my favorite food :). There were some crushing 2v2 matches, some of the best replays we have received thus far. The quarter finals started with our very own Abigail and Case who were unfairly defeated (snicker) by no rules. Passing through to the semi's with no rules were China, Xel Naga Core, and the illustrious PrisonBitches (no replay). Now we come to the two games as different as day and night where the PrisonBitches again had smooth sailing, while China was faced with a gut wrenching hour long match. Bringing us to the Finals were again the two chickens fried and grilled proved to much for their opponents. Njuist from the china team said "Raulriera, you were a great partner, thanks man!!! Hope to see you guys again on Friday for the big $20 ladderbux breakdown.---Mrhat187
Amazing Friday Finale - 08/01/03
Amazing match-ups for our friday finale with several top players coming to compete for the gold account upgrade. See the quarter finals action with our winners proving they have what it takes to make it to the semi's, Ihatecheaters, Countach, Ownage/Boris, PSYCHOncx (no replay.) Coming into the semis Countach was proving what a GLA war machine can do. With Ownage/Boris packing up win after win paving his way to the finals. See the semi final action, Countach, Ownage/Boris. In the end Countach made his claim to victory by defeating Ownage/Boris taking home the gold account upgrade. Check out the finals action Countach.---mrhat187
Security Warning - 08/01/03
If you run Windows there is a potential exploit you should be aware of that can allow someone else to take control of your computer remotely. Please read our announcement.
European Bash Fest - 07/30/03
Exciting double elimination tournament action with Ihatecheaters rising up from the loser's bracket by defeating both Czulkang and Njuist to take his place in the finals against the undefeated player of the day Kyuss. After an amazing barrage of ambulance crushing action by cheaters, Kyuss quickly replied right back with his own taste of destruction courtesy of the T&T method. In the end Kyuss came out victorious and ended the tournament undefeated. "Bring it on, I'll crush all the alt+f4 cheaters" said Kyuss. Hope to see everyone at the next tournament coming up this Friday.---Mrhat187
1st Tournament Results! - 07/25/03
Well it was an amazing 1st tournament of the season, with the Holland Basher Ownage/Vanity coming out on top in the end. It was a grudge match between Ownage/Vanity and Veni-Vedi-Vici who in the end became disconnected. The replay viewed by everyone in the office showed both sides engaging on multiple fronts, back and forth. In the end, all felt Vanity was getting ready to lower the boom through air superiority. Great tournament everyone, we will be hosting more in the coming weeks. Hopefully Gamespy will give us a better connection. Here is the Replay----Mrhat187
Ladder Reset Complete - 07/21/03
The announced reset for the 1.6 patch has been completed. Anyone who was not a Premium member will need to register before they can play a ladder match. Check out the the full announcement for all the details.
Ladder Wipe and Required Registration - 07/15/03
In conjunction with the 1.6 patch release, Case’s Ladder will be re-launching the official Command & Conquer General’s Ladder. All existing accounts will be removed. Players who wish to participate in the Ladder moving forward will be required to complete free registration. Registration will open some time this week. Please read the full announcement here.
Ladder Reset and New Stats - 03/13/03 Additionally, we have now added some great new stats to the match information screens. You can now see the sides that people played during the game, the map the game was played on, the length of the game, and if a disconnect was involved!
The ladder reset has been completed. You can see our reasons for this below. We're pretty excited to see things move forward now.
Quitting Games and Ladder Reset We will be resetting the primary stats on the Ladder tomorrow around noon Pacific time. In reviewing our logs and given the nature of changes in the latest patch, we feel a fresh start is in order. Some players have run up artificially high ratings by leaving games against good players. The new patch resolves this problem and we are looking forward to these new more accurate ratings. Additionally, we will add support for some new information we are now able to pull from the game at the end of a match. Expect to see information about the side someone was playing, region, and map played!
In conjunction with the new patch, leaving a Ladder game at ANY point will result in a loss being posted against you and a win for your opponent. Most players feel that once you commit to play a match that you should finish it. You can use the tools in QuickMatch to avoid playing matches with too high of a ping.
Service Update We have also passed along a number of suggestions and fixes to EA that will help improve Ladder play, as well as the Ladder Kit in general. Thanks for your continued support!
We have just completed installation of over $30,000 worth of new equipment. As you may know, we suffered a massive Denial of Service attack this past week which resulted in some downtime. Three new servers and one Netscreen later, we should be good to go now.
Player Login Issues We apologize for this inconvenience, but in order to prevent cheating and spoofing of results we are carefully tracking GameSpy IDs. When you log in and end up with the brackets after your name, your GameSpy ID may be different from your regular login. As a result, our system considers the match as a possible attempt at spoofing your name. Hopefully these multiple name login issues can be addressed in the near future. For the time being, please make sure you do not see brackets after your name to properly have Ladder matches awarded.
We have discovered that under some circumstances your games may not be properly recorded on the Ladder if there are multiple logins with the same name. If you log in to Generals Online and see brackets after your name, you should log out, wait a minute or two, then log back in. Your name will appear as something like "Case{0}" or "Case{1}" if there are multiple logins.
More Enhancements We have made it so that two players cannot use the same name and have it be reported as Ladder matches. They will be automatically discarded and a message put in the Daily News. If you see YOUR name listed in this manner, you are using the same name as another Ladder member. You will need to use a different username in Generals Online to have your matches reported to the Ladder. We apologize for the problem but we were unaware that GameSpy allowed two people to use the same name in Generals! Additionally,we have made some tweaks that should help people receive credit for wins if they are behind a router. We will continue to monitor this and recommend enhancements to EA as we become aware of problems with the Ladder Kit.
We have made two major changes today to help combat cheating and people having problems with matches not being reported.
Disconnection Clarification
We want to make sure that everyone understands the way disconnections are counted. If your opponent drops their connection to you, you will receive a win. If there is a connection problem between you and you BOTH lose connection, the match is discarded (we will be logging this starting tomorrow for your viewing).
